Happy New Year

Happy New Year from Everyone at Padiham Glass!

2015 was a great year for Padiham Glass - we reported growth of about 10% and have a similar target set for this year too! The strength of our market has been boosted by the investments going into construction once again and for us personally, the overwhelming confidence, commitment to and investment in higher and further education. We are not alone though – the industry as a whole has a very positive outlook for 2016.

Due to this encouraging trend over the last 12 months and looking ahead with our customers to upcoming projects and developments, we have seen the need to invest in our facilities and are planning to add a 3rd insulating glass unit manufacturing line to our current production process.

The Forel IG Line with 2010 argon gas press will have a 6 brush washer (soft coat ready), illuminated build up station and motorised out feed conveyor. The APG series couples and presses double glazed units and gas fills the cavity, automatically calculating the volume required. The gas acts as insulation, reducing the heat transmission coefficient and in some cases increases the noise reduction insulation coefficient.

This machine offers a high fill percentage of the double glazed unit limiting gas waste even in oversized sizes and double cavity DG units (i.e. triple glazed). The double glazed unit is filled from the underside with an adjustable flow adapted to the DG unit dimensions. The work cycle, from coupling to pressing, is fast and efficient.

By the end of January, we hope to have this line in place on the shopfloor, and significant plans have been drawn up to relocate and accommodate existing production areas when the Forel line is installed. This IG line with be our second with manual sealing but the addition will allow us more flexibility and will help improve our turnaround for express orders.

By focussing internally on our efficiency and continuing to improve the quality of our products we have been able to reduce our costs and this has given our directors, brothers Anthony and Wes Clarkson, the confidence to make advancements within the factory. We have made some small adjustments such as changing the lighting in our manufacturing areas to LED, but the results have proven to be more than worth it!

There are more investments to come throughout the course of this year and we will update you as and when they are due!

Happy New Year!
